Recommend Report | John Lawrence Sullivan Houndstooth Jacket

Take a look. It very much speaks for itself, but allow us to translate. This John Lawrence Sullivan Houndstooth Jacket is both classy and casual, playing off the simple one button closure. And while the shoulders are broad - kept to a minimal - they contrast well with the softness of the one button and simple color palette. Very much a winner in my book.

Collection Report | Placed by Gideon

We came across unknown designer Gideon Tam in Soho's Closet Case a little while back and we must say, we are fond already. Designer of Placed by Gideon, Tam has been creating knitwear since 2006, even recently winning the best menswear award at Berlin's Premium showcase.

He latest collection is full of decollete knits, both slouchy and fit. Featuring fun and awkward shapes and texture contrast, the collection is carelessly reminiscent of the 70's. And with such classic patterns and textures tweaked to fit his forte, Tam manages to make them still effortless, modern and fresh.

Shoe Report | Martyn Bal Autumn/Winter 2009 Footwear

Over the past few seasons, Ive become quite the fan of Martyn Bal and now thanks to Selectism, we have his AW09 footwear collection - much to your delight as well as our own. Focused mainly on classic shapes - much like the mainline - the collection exudes a sort of Willy Wonka quirk, in a much more tamed manner, something that we both like and admire.

Book Report | apartamento Magazine - Atelier de la Petite Enfance

In recent months we have heard a lot about Spanish magazine apartamento. Taking a completely new approach in the interior design magazine market, they try to capture real interiors and real people - a very intruiging and much needed approach. Finally an interiors magazine that one can relate to.

Today we had the opportunity to flip through their new issue 3, the Spring/Summer 2009 issue. Already the feel and quality of the magazine make a statement by themselves and the content follows that feel of quality 100%. We came across a very interesting article, an interview with A.P.C. founder and designer Jean Touitou. The designer talked about his latest venture - the opening of a kindergarten in Paris, named A.P.E. or Aterlier de la Petite Enfance.

“After 20 years spent in the fashion industry I wanted to touch at last on something related to civilization.” - Jean Touitou.

It is only one of many great articles in the magazine, that we can highly recommend!

Shop Report | Black Pleated Shorts

To call them shorts would be an understatement. Their SHINY BLACK PLEATED SHORT by JUUN J. At Seven NY and what they lack in material - what with the short shorts craze - they make up in attitude. These amazingly dramatic shorts feature cuffs with deep pleats and an interesting buttondown belt loop construction that is so intricate, going sans belt would suffice. I can think of no better way to make a splash than with these attention grabbing shorts.

Lookbook Report | Illionaire Fall 2009

Australia continues to amaze. The Aussie-based Illionaire debuted their Fall 2009 collection a while back, however now they give us another view, picking up on the perplexing mood of the collection as opposed to what the collection consist of itself. Designers Ben Woodcock and Kat Grace filled the collection with slim leather jackets, pants and top. Rock and roll to say the least. The collection goes even farther to distinct itself by adding features like peculiar place buttons, shoulder-bearings, and low necklines. What more does Australia have to give? We will be waiting to see.
