Editorial Report | Surveillance

Andrew Stetson appears in this Cheek Magazine editorial under the microscope of a surveillance lens, hence the title Surveillance. Photographer Ivan Otis worked to create these images of a modern urban man with Rohan Sajnan, without whose styling the editorial would fall flat. Sajnan succeeded in eluding modernity in the classic and in the mode canvas of suiting with designer names that include Philip Sparks, Rag & Bone, and Club Monaco. And although the wardrobe is dramatic, with reason, it is done so in a way that is surprisingly wearable and inspirational.

Editorial Report | Fantastic Streets

Style shouldn't be an inconvenience, and I guess photographer Andrea Spotorno sought out to invoke just that in the Fall/Winter issue of Fantastic Man. Playing on the notion that style is a mode of living, Alex Hudson and Jamie Johnson stroll the night time streets without so much as a worry of staining the lightly colored suits. This is menswear in its truest form: "A man should look as if he had bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care, and then forgotten all about them."

Editorial Report | Flexible Men

This intensely attractive editorial in GQ Italia is appropriately titled Flexible Man, despite a wardrobe that speaks otherwise. A smorgasbord of slim-cut suits, smoking jackets, and topcoats speak volumes on constriction when considering the tight tailoring and sharpened shoulders; they are rendered loose, like liquid, however, thanks to the choice of material and attention to fit. And the models' rousing performance of acrobatic-like jumps help, too.

Editorial Report | Heavyweight Champs

Who knew funny could be so stylish? E! comedian Joel McHale proves that just because his heart and soul are full of humor, there is still room in there to properly dress himself in the morning. In this fashion spread for GQ, McHale exhibits the proper way of suiting-up for winter months. He takes on the mode of flannel, tweed, wool, and corduroy suits; chalk stripe patterns; wool ties; rubber soled lace-ups; lightweight v-necks; and ribbed-knit scarves. Not to mention an adequate sock-shoe combo. The result of a good equation containing those components is nothing short of appropriate suiting. Take notes...

Editorial Report | Come Out In the Cold

Russian GQ dolled up Zach Ferry for what is an inspiring conundrum of style - predictable, but no less note worthy. Using snow as a white canvas for exposing an array of knitwear, photographer Joshua Jordan deserves praise for exploiting light to making the topic at hand the focal point; everything else falls secondary. And yes, its a fashion story that we have heard all too well, but that doesn't distract from their goal of exposing knitwear as the trend of choice for this season, so catch on already. Alas, Ill admit that it makes me feel a bit inadequate. My 'snow on the ground' wardrobe often times falls short of this much style, but I too am a constant work-in-progress.

Editorial Report | Ghostly Anthony

A bit ghostly with slight fright, but calming nonetheless. That's the feeling I get from this photograph by Williams Lords; inspiring nothing short of a contemporary and modish vibe, and perhaps a complex in my character and personality, and the way people perceive me. Because sometimes I wish I had porcelain white skin and black knits to wrap myself around. And a gray background to compliment my eyes. Sounds like I have a man crush on Anthony M., but the crush actually belongs to the apparent snood - or something of the sort. It sanctions the current trend of chunky knits and what Burberry decided to show for Fall 2009 - here.

Editorial Report | Coat Yourself

If GQ Japan feels that they have to prove themselves a valid and worth-wild publication, mission complete. Proving that they have a voice worth noting, they continue to produce editorials that have a directed focus, trend-setting notion, and present men as they should be: tall, dark, and masculine. Case in point, “Coat Yourself”. Photographed by Giampaolo Sgura, model Gen Huisman finds comfort in the season's most coveted coats, all reserved in design yet modern in their fit.

Editorial Report | Layering Affect

Sean Harju and Travis Davenport illustrate the layering affect for Style Magazine. Shot by Massimo Pamparana, it needn't be said that it is the season for layering. And what's shaping up to be a cold winter for the DC-area, it seems only appropriate to try out a trend that is every-bit weather concious. Layer away, just keep those turtlenecks from under your button-downs.

Editorial Report | Flaunt Mag

Masculinity is the new black; this editorial for Flaunt magazine showcases the 'new black' and puts it in terms of reality. Shot by photographer Milan Vukmirovic, Bastiaan Ninaber is styled in Trussardi 1911 and not only showcases the 'new black', but also makes an issue of being noticed and not simply falling in the background - as evident by the black backdrop under the black wardrobe. Simple twist can make all the difference.
