Shoe Report | Sperry S/S 2010 Preview
With a bit of an overwhelming comeback this season, the boat shoe faces much criticism for being overrated and many see its demise come fall. What many forget is that the boat shoe is very versatile, easily being kept fresh and new with a change in material, color, etc., and can be transfixed for any season, including winter. Further evidence that the boat shoe will continue in relevance far beyond this season is the Sperry S/S 2010 collection, which offers the classic silhouette in multiple styles at an economic efficient costs. Though this is just a preview, it shines light on what lovely things are to come. So keep those boat shoes...they will get you far beyond 2009. More views after the jump.

Accessories Report | Lad Musician Leather Brooch
Further evidence that gender distinction in the fashion industry is vastly becoming a thing of the past is the sudden rise of brooches that are appearing in menswear. While the accessory is traditionally worn by woman, men are taking notice in a big way and want in on the trend too. Blame our neighbor, First Lady Michelle Obama, for the sudden interest in the female demographic...but who do we blame for the interest on my side of the gender pool? Evolution? Gender equality? Any guesses are okay with me but I am not complaining. Brooches are an easy and simple way to bring a bit of detail and attention to a simple outfit, jacket, blazer, etc. Kanye West has even gone as far as to pin a female Chanel brooch to his jean jacket- here. While I am completely in love with the look that Kanye garnered with his Chanel choice, I know that this may be a challenging fleet for many men to get their heads around. We have found a more masculine and unique brooch at Blackbird that will give you the same results as Kanye's Chanel...with just a more gender distinctive look. Odd in a way, the brooches are made of Kangaroo leather in Japan and will without a doubt bring attention from all. Available now at Blackbird. More views...

Collection Report | Theory A/W 09 Lookbook

Just in time for 'Casual Friday', we are presented with a Theory's latest A/W 09 collection that consist of such an understated casualty that it could almost pass for professional work-wear. Consisting of low-maintenance, quality driven blazers, outerwear of the typical 'town coat' type, relaxed t-shirts, trousers, and little else, the collection is reminiscent of something you would find at the Gap. Silhouettes are basic and while the collection is anything to get excited about, its perfect for remaining constant and provides pieces that are timeless and will always remain 'in style', whatever that means. I especially like the fit of the trouser/blazer sets that instantly provide for a more laid back feel. Take notes, this is how casual Friday should be done...outwards remain professional while the innards are as casual as they come. More views after the jump.

Trend Report | Lanvin Blazigan?

As of recent I have been experimenting with alternatives to the typical blazer that is usually worn with trousers in a professional setting. Just today, more recently, I swapped a typical blazer with a cardigan, placed appropriately right over my vest, the result...genius. With all my trails and errors, however, it came as great delight and pure fashion mayhem when I ran into this piece, by Lanvin, that combines a cardigan and blazer to create a new hybrid - Blazigan? While the name may be skeptical, the design is perfection in its greatest form. Intelligently, it is a cardigan with lapels, front pockets, and even a space for a pocket square. Made of jersey, it is given the Lanvin stamp of approval with a softer than soft texture that we would expect from a cardigan...not so much from a blazer. While I would advise against the use of a pocket square - after all, it isn't a blazer, its a blazigan - the details that make it a hybrid are what make this piece worth the price and pure menswear heaven. Available at Browns, I don't suspect it to last long, Ive put my order in, so should you.

Collection Report | Zara A/W 09-10

Zara has always been a big hit in the DC fashion scene, and rightfully so. The European brand resist following trends and instead stays true to a clear design aesthetic that has remained constant - young, professional, and powerful. For their A/W 09-10 collection they don't change much up, but that is a consistency that we can respect. Staying true to their nature, the collection consist of outerwear that plays with a recuperated trend, double-breasting. Blazers are present, the classic button-downs, and suiting that is fit for a king. Playing up their European origin, the collection exudes European class with the 'avant-garde'ish grungy long-sleeved shirt that fits to a tee and fur that is present in a complicated jacket that is sure to be a hit. While these two pieces are rather unexpected, the rest is what we have come to love from Zara. Expect the collection to be shelved in the Georgetown location far before it reaches it Chinatown counterpart. More after the jump. And P.S. check out the footwear, which has always tickled my fancy.
