Collection Report | H&M Divided Fall 2009

H&M Divided brings us a quintessential Fall collection that offers the same affordability that we have come to love and know the brand for. With a stereotypical fall color palette of browns, tans, and muted primes, the collection offers thick knitwear, washed denim, classic outerwear, and flannels - all things we have come to associate with fall. What really excited my senses about the collection is the Minnetonka lace-up boots, something we normally don't get with menswear. And while the footwear trend has a feminine connotation and can be skeptical, H&M does it in a masculine way that is both grungy and acceptable. Clearly inspired by the mountains, that seem to be on permanent fall mode to me, the collection is expected yet lovely. What more can you ask for. More views after the jump.

Collection Report | Ontfront S/S 2010

Appropriately so, Ontfront takes inspiration from a traditional masculine past time...chess. Bringing on the drama, they styled the runway show with pieces from a knights shinning armor, delivering a collection of clothes that are equally as strong, protective, and necessary along the way. Menswear is given a semi-casual translation with double-breasted outerwear becoming relevant throughout. Color coordination takes a forefront, and rightfully so, with many of the pieces taking on two color palettes - gray and off white, beige and white, and gold and white, just to name a few. Suiting is a favorite of mine, with innovative blazer structure and two tones trousers to match. Button-downs are there, along with many other shirt variations, including a double-breasted button down. While the collection is semi-casual and far from avant-garde, it is every bit fresh and innovative with great coloring and structure. Makes me want to grab a scotch and play a good game of chess. Check and mate.

Lookbook Report | Uniform Experiment A/W 09-10

Mixing the urban with the chic is a fleet not easily taken. Its easy to get lost in translation and most of the time the result is somewhere close to looking awkward and like something your not. Fortunately, Uniform Experiment faces none of these issues and finds the perfect resting place with their A/W 09-10 collection. Styling is impeccable in their lookbook and notes should rightly be taken. They find the perfect balance between urban and professional wear and incorporates the perfect elements in the right places. While I cannot speak for the rest of DC, I believe that if your going to embrace urban wear then it should look something along the lines of this. Outerwear is left urban while the innards of the collection remain profession, sporadically patterned. Accessories are given a wilder feel, which they should...giving just the right dose of fun in a strict environment. DC interns...bookmark this post. More views after the jump.

Accessories Report | Folk 'Wonder' Belt

Color happens to be something that isn't too fond upon in DC during the workweek. Turn to the weekend and you get the total opposite. Well, thanks to Folk we are given a middleman piece...literally. The Wonder belt is a great resting place between color and...well, no color. This woven pink belt finds that resting place in that the pink is not hot, more pale than anything. And thanks to the tan leather that compliments the toned down woven pink, its given a vintage 'indie' feel, something we all can appreciate. More information available from Oi Polloi and another view after the jump.

Accessories Report | J. Smith Esquire A/W 09

Head gear in menswear is as traditional and classic as say...man kind itself. It has to be my favorite accessory and can easily transform any run-of-the-mill outfit into something that looks like it took a little effort. While I advise to go more classic with what you put on your head, I can't help but be in love with the delicious designs that J. Smith Esquire have put forth in their A/W 09 collection. Innovative in every way possible, structures are unexpected with back-less features, scarf-additions, denim fabric, and even a few character-enhanced tops. Only for the brave, the collection is not easily pulled off, but I like to say...if your going to go outrageous, you mind as will start with your accessories. More information at J. Smith Esquire and images after the jump.
