Exclusive Report | Lands' End Canvas Collection

Courtesy of my new-found friend, GQ Fashion Editor Damien Nunes, I can exclusively announce (I think) that Lands' End has launched a new collection entitled Canvas. And by "I think", its no reference to the collection, but to the exclusivity of the announcement. I'm sure he emailed the big news to a few dozen of his other friends, but 'exclusive' sounds so much better. But back to the collection at hand: its a composition of classic outerwear, fitted shirts, and soft-as-cotton polos; the affordable prices are an added bonus that holds no consolation to the quality of the garments. And thanks to GQ's Jason Chen, we have got close-up photos of what Lands' End has been up to. What looks like an attempt to make casual wear cool again, let me be the first to let you know that they succeed effortlessly.
Design director Ernesto Ramirez explains:
"The Canvas collection takes the heritage pieces of Lands' End—which actually began as a company outfitting sailors in 1963—and makes them relevant for today. Rather than being for a younger guy, it's for a guy with a different attitude—the Canvas guy wears things slimmer, he'll turn up a cuff, he'll dress things up or down.
Why does it have to cost you $200 to get a shirt that fits you well? It doesn't make sense. We're making clothes that pay attention to fit and proportion at a price that everyone can afford.
I couldn't agree more, and the prices rarely exceed $40; $25 for polos; $30 for a fitted shirt; $40 for jeans.
The Canvas collection is available online via Lands' End Canvas.
