Its pretty much an understatement to say that President-elect Obama's inauguration is historic. Its so much more to Americans everywhere. Its so much more for democracy. Its so much more for freedom. And what a coincidence that its happening on the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's inauguration, someone who Barack Obama very much embodies. Like millions of Americans all over the country, im celebrating the inauguration by going to many inaugural events. Though I live in Washington, DC and see all of the monuments and symbols that represent what our country stands for on an everyday basis, it means so much more to see them during these days leading up to the inauguration. The atmosphere here in DC is so joyful, celebratory, and historic. I was able to attend the Opening Ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial and will continue to celebrate with many events to come.
If you are in Washington, DC for the inauguration please remember to be safe, dress warm, and celebrate the coming of a new president, the chance for a fresh start, and the fact that things will get better-it may take time and may get worst first but they will get better.
