New York Fashion Week | Rag & Bone Spring 2010

Rag & Bone presented their Spring 2010 collection during New York Fashion Week and with great pieces and overall aspects, the collection seems a bit lost in translation...or better yet, lost in season. Dark colors, heavy material, and an influx of outerwear seem a bit out of place for spring and while I can appreciate a good leather jacket...not so much during hot weather. Despite these set backs, the collection successfully connotes a militaristic motif, something that is rather familiar to the brand itself. Taking the forefront and attention, coats and jackets remain modern and tailored with a distinct structure best captured by the contrasting casual pieces. Thermal pants create a contrast that is unlike any other, like President Barack Obama and Representative Joe Wilson going out for a burger...great end results but initial shock. Other casual pieces include rolled trousers, simple tops, and knits that all work together for the common good - a collection that is relatable to the current time yet, respectful of the past, and brand recognizable.
