Collection Report | Ontfront S/S 2010

Appropriately so, Ontfront takes inspiration from a traditional masculine past time...chess. Bringing on the drama, they styled the runway show with pieces from a knights shinning armor, delivering a collection of clothes that are equally as strong, protective, and necessary along the way. Menswear is given a semi-casual translation with double-breasted outerwear becoming relevant throughout. Color coordination takes a forefront, and rightfully so, with many of the pieces taking on two color palettes - gray and off white, beige and white, and gold and white, just to name a few. Suiting is a favorite of mine, with innovative blazer structure and two tones trousers to match. Button-downs are there, along with many other shirt variations, including a double-breasted button down. While the collection is semi-casual and far from avant-garde, it is every bit fresh and innovative with great coloring and structure. Makes me want to grab a scotch and play a good game of chess. Check and mate.
