Collection Report | Dries Van Noten AW 09-10

Clearly Dries Van Noten wanted to make it clear that classics are the new modern this year, and they splashed it across their A/W 09-10 collection. With outerwear taking the forefront, silhouettes are broader than what we have seen in previous seasons yet still are balanced out by belting or opposing tops and bottoms. Traditional menswear are present throughout with outerwear of a variety of length and types, slacks, scarves, trousers, and shirts. The color palette is that of a fall collection factually - with darker shades of yellows, burgundy, greens, blacks, and grays. Double breasting is a major factor in the collection, and a clear trend for the fall and while it can often be quite dull, Noten offers the trend in a number of varieties, from long town coats to short pea coats and suiting. Clean lines with interesting patterns, the suiting in the collection is far beyond classic but still embodies the same feeling. Making a bold statement, knitwear and quilting are included in the collection, providing for a fun and unexpected turn of events. Office wear at its finest, show up to work in something from this collection and you will without a doubt turn heads. What more can be said...plenty, but I will let the pictures speak the rest.
